GDPR
On May 25th 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation came into effect across the EU. It is a new law that is being implemented in exactly the same way across all EU countries to create a level set of rules to ensure all data held and processed by organisations within the EU is secure and processed lawfully.

Public organisations, schools (and academies) are required to comply with GDPR. At St St Kieran’s College we have been working on our GDPR readiness currently we have:
- Enhanced awareness of the importance of GDPR and of our compliance with it in our school with students, parents, teachers and other staff in the school.
- Begun the process of carrying out a school audit of our data and documents in order to update our Data Protection Policy
The process of becoming fully GDPR compliant will be a long one because it affects all aspects of the school. We do already have strong Data Protection Policy and protections but these will need to be reviewed and updated in line with GDPR. This is a process which will take time but we are working hard to ensure that GDPR will be central in our daily routine. We already highly value and protect all of our students (past and present), parents and staff data and will continue to do so in the presence of GDPR.
Throughout the process of being compliant with GDPR the school may need to bring information to the attention of students, parents and guardians. We kindly request that you read the following: GDPR Privacy Notice
