How To Apply for A School Place in St Kieran’s College

 

If you are interested in applying for a place in St Kieran’s College for your son, we would first advise that you view our  St Kieran’s College Prospectus  and then carefully read all of the information below:

 

 

Admissions Policy

Please read the St Kieran’s College Admission Policy. Our admissions policy outlines how the admission procedure works for our school. It was formulated and ratified by our Board of Management, following consultation with our Parents’ Association, Student Council and Teaching Staff. It has been approved by our then Patron, Most Reverend Denis Nulty, Apolostic Administrator for the Diocese of Ossory. It is reviewed by the Board of Management on an annual basis, most recently on August 19th, 2024.

Application Process for Enrolment to First Year

 

Mailing List

  • Please add your name to the mailing list in order to register your interest in attending our Open Night. (Our next Open Night will take place in September 2025)
  • In advance of our Open Night, you will then receive an invite via email inviting you to attend at a designated time.
  • To be included on our mailing list, please click on the following link and submit the relevant form: I would like to be included on the Mailing List  

 

Registration for Open Night

  • Each year, the school holds an Open Night (usually in September) for prospective students (Sixth Class Only) and their parents in the College grounds.
  • Our Open Night consists of a short presentation for parents and prospective students in the Sports Hall which was followed by guided tours of the school.
  • Times will be allocated to those registered on our Mailing List via Email.
  • To register for the Open Night for next year, please complete this form to add yourself to the mailing list for registration.

 

Annual Admission Notice

  • The Annual Admission Notice is published here – Annual Admission Notice for 2025-2026
  • The Annual Admission Notice gives all relevant dates for the full application process pertaining to the Sixth Class students for that given year for admission to St Kieran’s College the following year.

 

Application Process 

  • Our Online Application Process for First Year 2025 was open from Tuesday 1st October until 4pm on Tuesday 22nd October 2024.
  • All applications received after 4pm on Tuesday 22nd October 2024 will be treated as a Late Application as per the school’s Admission Policy.
  • To make a late application, you will need to request an application form, by contacting the School Office, St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny or by emailing school@stkieranscollege.ie / Phone: 056-7761707
  • Please consult the Admissions Policy and the Annual Admission Notice for all relevant details regarding the application process.

 

Application Process for School Transfer:

If you wish to apply for a place for your son as a school transfer (i.e. if he wishes to transfer from another second-level school) then you must:

  • Read the St Kieran’s College Admission Policy available below.
  • Download a copy of our School Transfer Application Form (available below) for students transferring from another second-level school or contact the school office to have a copy posted to you.
  • Complete this School Transfer Application Form and submit a hardcopy to the School Office.
  • Please include copies of your son’s two most recent school reports with his application and a cover-letter explaining why you are considering a school transfer at this time.
  • Please note that we receipt all applications via email to the email address provided in the School Transfer Application Form.
  • If you do not receive same within a couple of days, the onus is on you to contact the school.
  • The school does not take any responsibility for Application Forms not received.
