Admissions Policy

Please read the St Kieran’s College Admission Policy. Our admissions policy outlines how the admission procedure works for our school. It was formulated and ratified by our Board of Management, following consultation with our Parents’ Association, Student Council and Teaching Staff. It has been approved by our Patron, Most Reverend Denis Nulty, Apolostic Administrator for the Diocese of Ossory. It is reviewed by the Board of Management on an annual basis, most recently on December 8th 2022.

Application Process for First Years 

Mailing List (optional) 

  • You may wish to have your name included on our mailing list.  Names on the mailing list will receive a reminder about our Open Night/ admissions process for the following academic year, when your son begins Sixth Class. To be included on our mailing list, please click on the following link and submit the relevant form: I would like to be included on the Mailing List 

This year, the Open Night is planned for Monday 11th October, and we await confirmation as to what format is most likely, given the Covid-19 pandemic.

Annual Admission Notice / Annual Process 

  • The Annual Admission Notice will be updated and posted on this webpage no earlier than 1st September each year.
  • This year, the annual Admission Notice will be posted here once the process begins for enrolment for the 2022 / 2023 First Year Class Group.
  • The Annual Admission Notice gives all relevant dates for the full application process pertaining to the Sixth Class students for that given year for admission to St Kieran’s College the following year.
  • The relevant Application Form for 2022-2023 will be available for download here when the process begins for enrolment for 2022 / 2023 First Year Class Group. or by contacting the School Office. Completed Application Forms Forms will only be accepted during the appropriate time period, as specified, in the Admission Notice. 
  • Around the same time (October) the school will host an Open Night (see above) for prospective students (Sixth Class Only) and their parents.
  • Names on the Mailing List will be sent a reminder about the Open Night in advance, but all relevant students and parents are welcome.
  • Application Forms will ordinarily be available at the Open Night or for download below, when the process begins.
  • Please note that we receipt all applications via email to the email address provided in the Application Form.
  • If you do not receive same within a couple of days, the onus is on you to contact the school. The school does not take any responsibility for Application Forms not received.

 

Application Process for School Transfer:

If you wish to apply for a place for your son as a school transfer (i.e. if he wishes to transfer from another second-level school) then you must:

  • Read the St Kieran’s College Admission Policy available below.
  • Download a copy of our application form (available below) for students transferring from another second-level school or contact the school office to have a copy posted to you.
  • Complete this application form and submit a hardcopy to the School Office. Please include copies of your son’s two most recent school reports with his application and a cover-letter explaining why you are considering a school transfer at this time.
  • Please click on the following link to download a copy of the Application Form – School Transfer or alternatively, contact the school office to have a copy posted to you.
  • Please note that we receipt all applications via email to the email address provided in the Application Form.
